Known issues & solutions

Quick fixes for the most common problems on KNS LMS. Find your issue below, follow the steps or watch the short tutorial, and if it's still not resolved the KnS team is one message away.

Good to know: these prompts appear because the app is new, not because it's unsafe. Windows shows them for any fresh installer.
  1. Keep the download
When the file finishes downloading, your browser may warn that it isn't commonly downloaded. Open the menu next to it and choose Keep (then Keep anyway if asked again).
  2. Click “More info”, then “Run anyway”
On the blue “Windows protected your PC” screen, click More info. A Run anyway button appears — click it. Do not click Don't run.
  3. Finish the installer and sign in
Follow the setup steps to the end, then log in. Your account works across every platform you sign in on.
On a managed/work laptop? If Run anyway is greyed out, your IT team has locked it — ask them to allow the KNS installer.
Installer still won't run? Send us your Windows version and we'll help.

Good to know: the app isn’t actually damaged. macOS shows this warning for any app that isn’t sold through the App Store — it’s one command to fix, and you only need to do it once.
  1. Move the app to Applications
If you opened it from a mounted disk image, drag KNS Institute into your Applications folder first.
  2. Open Terminal
Press Cmd + Space, type Terminal, then press Enter.
  3. Run this one command
Copy it exactly, paste it into Terminal, and press Enter.
    xattr -cr "/Applications/KNS Institute v7.app"
App not in Applications? Replace the path with wherever you put it — for example your Downloads folder.
  4. Open the app normally
Double-click KNS Institute again — it will open without the warning from now on.

  1. Check that YouTube works on your computer
KNS lectures stream through YouTube, so start by opening youtube.com and playing any video.
If YouTube won't open or play → ask your IT team to enable YouTube on your computer, then try the lecture again.
  2. Open the LMS tutorial and play any video
Still seeing a black screen? Go to the LMS tutorial and start any video there to test playback inside KNS.
If the tutorial video plays fine → clear your browser cache, reload the lecture page, and try again — it should now play.
  3. Still not playing? Message the KnS team
If the lecture is still black after all of the above, send us a message with your browser name and a screenshot, and we'll get you sorted.
Still stuck after every step? Reach out and we'll take it from here.
